The Details

This Higher National Certificate is a full-time one-year course that will be run over 3/4 days a week. The HNC is a progression route into Higher Education for students who have achieved a relevant Level 3 in Animal Management.

The key themes of this HNC are Animal Husbandry and Animal Welfare, Ecology and Conservation, and Animal Biology. The HNC will be a combination of academic and practical learning.

Specifically, you will study:

- Animal Health and Welfare
- Business and the Business Environment
- Managing a Successful Project
- Animal Behaviour in Society
- Animal Husbandry
- Animal Anatomy and Physiology
- Animal Nutrition
- Ecological Principles

The qualification is assignment based with no exam-based units. You will assessed through academic written evidence and practical assessments

Other Important Info

All PPE will be supplied in relation to practical work within the Science Labs and Animal Practical sessions.

Students can apply for a student loan through https://www.gov.uk/apply-online-for-student-finance.

You will be supported by our HE team if you are in need of advice and guidance. One-to-one and group sessions are available.

Future Prospects

The HNC has been designed with progression in mind. It can stand alone as a one-year qualification or can lead onto the Higher National Diploma (HND) in year two. The expected progression route after completion of the full HND is further study at university-level.
