Hairdressing Apprenticeships

Looking for a Hairdressing apprenticeship in Kent? Earn while you learn at MidKent College.

Do you enjoy meeting new people, and have a passion for style and beauty? If you combine this with a good work ethic, a career in hairdressing is for you.

Develop skills that could see you working locally in a reputable salon, or take you around the world on shoots or cruise ships. You’ll learn how to advise clients on the perfect style for them, as well as making a positive impression of yourself.

    What will I learn?

A Hairdressing apprenticeship is diverse and offers you a chance to channel your creative flair into styling and colouring. You’ll gain hands-on experience in a professional environment such as colouring, setting, dressing, shampooing and finishing. Your communication and organisation skills will also improve through salon reception training.

You’ll also study English and maths at a level to suit you. All hairdressers will need to communicate effectively with clients, order stock and calculate pricing.

    How will I be assessed?

Your dedicated training officer will assess most of your learning in your workplace. You’ll also be assessed in English and maths, at an appropriate level to you.

What will I get from an Hairdressing apprenticeship?

    • A nationally recognised qualification
    • GCSEs in English and maths (dependent on previous level of qualification)
    • Relevant and applicable industry experience
    • Once fully qualified, hairdressers earn on average £14,000-£30,000 per year.*
