Access courses are perfect for students who want to develop their careers by gaining a degree but who lack the formal qualifications universities are looking for, while our Youth University Progression (YUP or YouthUP) courses are an ideal option for younger students. Every year our students are welcomed by universities nationwide.
Our Access Diplomas, available at our Medway and Maidstone Campuses in Kent, will help you acquire and develop the skills needed to study at university.
Our staff are experienced at helping people move back into education. You will learn how to study effectively and express yourself clearly through an academic programme of learning, including Study Skills.
Most Access courses run over three or four days for up to 16 hours a week and last for a year, although several part-time courses are also available. Timings are, as far as possible, designed to be flexible and fit in with school hours.
Younger students who wish to go to university will find one of our Youth University Progression (YouthUP) courses ideal. Modelled on the successful features of Access, and developed in conjunction with the University of Kent, these courses provide an alternative route to Higher Education and a professional career.
Both courses are internally assessed through projects, presentations and some time-constrained assignments.
The key subjects you study will depend on the type of Access course completed. Click on the relevant course title to find out more about individual entry requirements and what you will learn.
