Which Course is for Me?

Choosing your course can be a daunting prospect, whoever you are. Try asking yourself the following questions:

Why do I want to study?

You may want to gain skills that will lead you to a specific job, or you might want to keep your options open by gaining a more general qualification. Whatever you decide, MidKent College will have a course to suit you.

Do I have the right experience or qualifications to get a place?

Many of the subjects available at MidKent College are offered at various levels. For example, as a full-time student, you could do a First Diploma in Business (Level 2/Intermediate Level), move onto to a National Diploma in the same subject (Level 3/Advanced Level) and from there progress to an HND in Business (Level 5). A number of other qualifications are also available part-time.

For full details of entry requirements, call us on 01634 402020 or download a Course Guide here. Hard copies of our Course Guides are also available to pick up from the reception areas at either of our centres.

School or College?

We offer A Level courses, just like at school, but our teaching environment is more relaxed and grown-up. You’re expected to take more responsibility for your learning and in return, we treat you like an adult. It doesn’t mean we don’t look after you though; as a MidKent student you will receive the guidance and support of a Personal Tutor who will help you achieve your best.

If A Levels aren’t for you, we offer a broader choice of courses than most schools. Many of these courses lead to further study or jobs, such as Business & Retail, Hairdressing, Bricklaying or IT.

How will I pay for my time at the College?

Courses are free up to the age of 19. If you are over 19, you may still be entitled to help with your fees. However, this will depend on the course and your individual circumstances. If you’re unsure what help is available ask at your interview.

In addition, the government pays EMA (Education Maintenance Allowance) for students aged up to 19 and ALG (Adult Learning Grant) for over 19s. To find out if you qualify, ask us for an application pack or check out the Student Finance page of this site.
