What will I learn?

Mandatory units of study include:

   Research projects in public services
   Organisations and behaviour
   Fair treatment in public services

For the HND there are an additional four compulsory units:

   Managing public sector finance

   Government, decision-making and the public services
   Personal and professional development

There will also be an extensive range of specialist units including:
   Psychology of human and criminal behaviour
   Sociological aspects of the public services in contemporary society
   Human resources in the public services
   Managing stress in public services
   Health and safety management in public services
   The global environment, justice and punishment
   Crime reduction and community safety
   Technology and public services
   Emergency planning and the public services
   Public service activity management


What are the entry requirements?

You will need to have at least one of these:

   Level 3 National Diploma or Certificate in Public Services

   Level 3 Extended Diploma/Diploma in Public Services

   120 UCAS points from A-levels or equivalent

   Access to HE Certificate

   NVQ level 3 industry-related qualification

   Mature learners with a profile of achievement through employment


Students will also need 4 GCSEs at least grade C, including English and Maths. A satisfactory reference from a previous education prodiver or employer is also required.
