The following information is for students who have been permanently resident in the UK or European Union for at least three years on 1 September 2010.

Please note: MidKent College does not have a Tier 4 licence and as a consequence is unable to accept any applications from students on a Tier 4 visa. Please contact us on 01634 402020 if you have any further queries.

Students aged 18 or under on 31 August 2010

Tuition is FREE for all 16-18 year-old students on full-time Further Education (FE) courses of more than 14 hours a week running for 10 weeks or more.

There are no examination/registration fees for full-time students who are aged 18 or under on 31 August 2010 except under certain circumstances (e.g. re-sitting exams).

Students aged 19 or over on 31 August 2010

Fees for college courses are set in line with government policy. Unless current policy changes, tuition fees for students who are aged 19 or over on 31 August 2010 will be approximately £1,275 plus a contribution of £110 to awarding body qualification registration fees. Tuition fees for daytime Access courses are expected to be £715 plus a contribution of £110 to awarding body qualification registration fees. You will find actual details of the fee for each course by looking up the relevant course on this website or from the Course Information Line on 01634 402020.

Concessions on the tuition fee may be available for students who receive a means tested state benefit.

Students may apply to our Student Finance Team for a grant towards their equipment, textbooks and child care if their financial circumstances merit it. Please note that if you are on benefits, these could be affected. You should contact your Benefit Office for advice.

Level 2/3 Entitlement

Free tuition is available for some courses depending on your age and the qualifications you have already achieved. Examination/registration fees will still be payable in full. 

A list of eligible courses is available here (it may still be worth contacting us if your chosen course isn’t on the list.) To claim the free tuition you will need to complete a Level 2/3 Declaration Form available by clicking here.

Students 19 or over enrolling on a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification, will be entitled to free tuition, provided they do not already have a full Level 2 qualification.

Students aged 19-24 who already have a Level 2 qualification but are enrolling on their first full Level 3 qualification will also be entitled to free tuition.

Additional Costs

Most courses carry additional costs for items such as stationery, books and photocopying. Some courses also require you to buy more expensive items such as uniforms or specialist equipment. You can check the additional costs for each course by accessing the relevant course information on this website or by contacting us on 01634 402020.

How to Pay

You can use the following methods of payment:

You can spread the cost of your fees at no extra charge, either by standing order or credit/debit card instalments, provided:

arrowBullet_grey.jpg The course lasts for at least one term
arrowBullet_grey.jpg The fee payable is at least £95.

You will need to pay a 50% deposit followed by three equal monthly payments.

Standing Order Payment

Please forward a 50% deposit, payable by cash (in person only), cheque or credit/debit card along with your completed Standing Order Form. Following receipt of the deposit, the balance will be drawn automatically in equal instalments over the following three months from your bank or building society.

Once you are accepted onto your chosen course, the 50% deposit will be charged immediately to your credit/debit card account with the remainder being charged in three equal instalments at monthly intervals.
