MidKent College students learn the skills needed to gain employment

The ‘student destinations’ report – in which the College contacted nearly 2,000 people earlier this year – revealed that 86% of those who left in July 2011 have either gone on to university or are now in employment.

A further 5% returned to the College for more studies.

Under the previous Government’s quality guidelines, which have now been withdrawn, MidKent College would have been graded “outstanding” for the overall findings of the survey.

The 91% total figure is also an increase of 3% on the previous year.

Assistant principal Alan Ashfield said: “At a time of high unemployment it’s extremely satisfying to see so many of our students progressing into jobs or higher education.

“People study at MidKent College because they want to receive the best possible education, and these high figures demonstrate that is exactly what they are getting.

“We do our best to keep in contact with our former students, so we know they often move onto some pretty impressive things.”
