Richard Pettitt, 42, from Rochester, and Paul Hopper, 23, from Swanscombe, were honoured as part of the prestigious Apprentice, Journeyman and Master Certificate Scheme at a ceremony earlier this month.
The annual event – held at Plaisterers’ Hall, London – is organised by the Construction Liveries Group in partnership with the Livery Companies Skills Council and City & Guilds.
Stuart Nice, MidKent College’s head of Construction and Building Services, said: “These two students are a credit to themselves, their employers and the College.
“These talented individuals have both demonstrated outstanding aptitude and ability, and have the potential to make a major contribution within the plumbing industry.”
Paul and Richard, who both represented MidKent College at last year’s WorldSkills competition, are currently studying for their Level 3 NVQs in Plumbing and Heating.
Paul has more than five years’ experience as a plumbing and heating engineer while Richard works for Southern Water as a water regulations officer.
MidKent College is approved by the Skills Funding Agency to offer both apprenticeships and advanced apprenticeships. ___________________________________________________ For all media enquiries, please contact Steve Knight, Marketing and Communications Officer, on 01634 383277 or email steve.knight@midkent.ac.uk.
