Kent Police, the British Army, Hilton Hotels & Resorts and Sparshatts were among the many organisations represented at the event, which was held at the Maidstone Campus on Wednesday (2 May).

As well as giving students the chance to meet potential employers, the fair also helped the College promote some of the services it offers to local businesses.

These include bespoke training options, apprenticeships and a JobShop supplying suitable candidates for employment vacancies.

Assistant principle Jill Edwards said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to learn more about the options available to them in the working world.

“Despite the high rate of youth unemployment, there are still jobs out there. They just need to know where to look and how to give themselves the best possible chance of getting hired.

“We are extremely grateful to all the employers who took the time to speak with our students, many of whom now have a clearer idea of how to achieve their career aspirations.”

A ‘student destinations’ survey published last month revealed that 86% of those who left MidKent College in July 2011 have either gone on to university or are now in employment, with a further 5% returning to the College for more studies.
