They were being cared for by Level 3 Child Care & Education students Emma Prentice and Sophie Martin, who are helping the babies’ parents Alyson and James Weir as part of their course.

“Our students carry out a variety of work placements including with nurseries, schools and individual parents,” said programme area leader Karen Felton.

“It’s invaluable to have such hands-on experience and the feedback has been really positive.

“Abigail’s and Jennifer’s mum has been really pleased with the work the students have been doing. Most parents appreciate having a bit of freedom, even if it’s just so they can have 20 minutes in the bath.”

Mrs Weir attended the College’s Medway Campus to have her hair cut by students at The Look commercial salon.

MidKent College offers several different courses in Health & Social Care, Children’s Care and Education, with students often going on to secure employment as nursery supervisors, childcare officers, classroom assistants, nursery nurses and more.
