The visitors, many of whom belonged to local Women’s Institute groups, sat down for a slap-up meal at The Pavilion Restaurant after being treated to a dazzling performance of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Yesterday’s event, which will be repeated today (Thursday, 8 December), was a joint effort between students from the Performing Arts and Hospitality and Catering departments.
Main courses on offer at the Pavilion included turkey with all the trimmings, minute steak, roast fillet of trout, and celeriac, with a three-course meal costing just £12.50 per person.
Hospitality and Catering assessor Tracy Kirkpatrick said: “Normally the students manage small tables but for this event there were up to 24 diners per group, so it was a big test for them.
“It’s great experience for them to deal with so many bookings and the pressure that comes with it, and I thought they all did a great job.
“This is the third year we’ve done this and it gets more and more popular every year. Our guests loved the food and thought the theatre production was fantastic too.”
The Pavilion Restaurant is run by staff and students at MidKent College’s Medway Campus, and is open weekdays from noon until 1.45pm and from 6.30-8.30pm on Thursdays (term time only).
