Our shiny, brand-new Medway Campus opened its doors to students for the first time this September.
Our Horsted and City Way sites finally closed their doors on 31 July 2009 - giving us a few weeks to move into the slick new Campus on Medway Road in Gillingham.
The super-modern Medway site boasts state-of-the-art training facilities in a wide range of subject areas, including Construction, Engineering, Hair and Beauty, Animal Care, Performing Arts, Health Care and Public Services. It also has room for almost 30% more students than we could previously accommodate – giving you a much better chance of making it onto our most popular courses.
Any techno-freaks out there will be pleased to know that all areas of the buildings have wireless internet access and every classroom has the capacity for fast video-streaming.
The new campus is made up of three buildings linked by two huge glass pavilions. These spectacular transparent hubs contain a large reception area, a bistro where you can chill out with your friends, and a state-of-the-art performance theatre.
Project Director for the new build, Jane Jones, said: “A campus of this quality will transform vocational education in Medway. We expect to see far more young people going on to university or higher level training, and what’s particularly exciting for us is that the campus’s co-location with the universities and Royal School of Military Engineering will ensure that Medway is known as a centre of educational innovation throughout the country.”
Interested in a course at Maidstone? Don’t panic! MidKent College’s Maidstone Campus (which is located in the Oakwood Park complex) is set to undergo its own set of extensive improvement works.
Our Maidstone site has already benefited from some serious investment in its facilities - with the construction of new, spacious, modern workshops and classrooms and a freshened-up Learning Resource Centre. Other areas of the College, such as salons, social areas and IT rooms, have been refurbished and modernised, and we have plans for yet further development of the Campus. These will be announced in the near future, so keep an eye on our website for further details.
