Certificate in Introduction to Hair and Beauty

Campus: Medway
Level: 1
Length: 12 weeks

This course will give you the basic skills required to work in the Hair and/or Beauty sector. You will undertake practical work in our professional salons alongside related theoretical aspects. Successful completion of the course will enable you to advance your studies in one or other the areas or to obtain an apprenticeship. You will need to have a personable and friendly outlook and a good general education to be successful in these areas.
 

Diploma in Nail Services

Campus: Maidstone
Level: 2
Length: 20 - 24 weeks

Initially, you will practice a range of services – including manicure, pedicure and nail art – on other group members. Then, as your confidence grows, you will carry out treatments on members of the public for assessment purposes. Successful completion of the course could lead to employment within the nail industry.
 

Subsidiary Diploma in Applied Science

Campus: Medway
Level: 3
Length: 22 weeks

This course will cover a range of topics in chemistry, biology and physics that are closely linked to laboratory and industrial practices. You will learn through a combination of lectures, discussions, presentations, assignments, practical work and educational visits to science industries. Successful completion of this course leads to the level 3 Extended Diploma in Applied Science.
 

Award in Administration

Campus: Medway
Level: 1
Length: 20 weeks

This course introduces you to a variety of activities that are based on realistic work situations in administration, with a mixture of theory and practical learning. Successful completion of this course could lead to a number of Administration courses at level 2, including the Certificate in Administration and Certificate for Legal Secretaries.
 

Certificate in Building Services Engineering (Basic Electrical, Plumbing & Heating)

Campus: Medway
Level: 1
Length: 20 - 24 weeks

On this course you will learn the skills and knowledge required to prepare you for an apprenticeship in the electrical, plumbing or heating industries. Alternatively, you may wish to progress to a level 2 course in a related discipline. Your practical skills will be continuously assessed throughout the course and your theoretical knowledge will be assessed by external tests.
 

Certificate in Introduction to Employment in the Construction Industry (Painting & Decorating or Brickwork)

Campus: Medway
Level: E3
Length: 24 weeks

This course is ideal for young people who want to become skilled craftspeople or mature learners who want to formalise a career in the painting & decorating or brickwork industries. Successful completion of this course could lead to the level 1 Diploma in Painting & Decorating or Brickwork.
 

Award in Retail Skills

Campus: Medway & Maidstone
Level: Entry
Length: 17 weeks
This course introduces you to a variety of activities that are based on realistic work situations in the retail industry. Assessment is through written and practical coursework, projects and assignments. Successful completion of this course could lead to a related qualification at level 2.
 

NVQ in Performing Engineering Operations

Campus: Medway
Level: 2
Length: 20 - 24 weeks

On this course you will learn the skills and knowledge needed for a career in the engineering production industry. Assessment will consist of practical observations and written log books. Successful completion of the course can lead to a career with good prospects in the engineering industry or alternatively, progression to the level 3 Subsidiary/Extended Diploma in Engineering.
 

Certificate in Engineering

Campus: Medway
Level: 1
Length: 20 - 24 weeks

This course focuses on the practical skills and knowledge required for a career in Engineering, in subjects such as Fabrication and Welding. Successful completion of the course could lead to a level 2 qualification in Engineering.
 

Introduction to Working in the Sports Industry

Campus: Maidstone
Level: 2
Length: 20 - 24 weeks

This course has been specifically designed for those who want to gain the skills required to work in the sports and fitness industry. You will learn through a variety of activities, including lectures and practical experiences. On completion of the qualification, you could progress to a related level 3 course, or take up a junior position in the sport, health and fitness industry.
 

City & Guilds Award in Basic Construction Skills (Bricklaying, Carpentry and Painting & Decorating)

Campus: Maidstone
Level: 1
Length: 20 - 24 weeks

On this course you will learn the skills and knowledge needed in the following trades:

  • Painting & decorating
  • Carpentry & joinery
  • Brickwork

You will be continually assessed throughout the course. Successful completion of the course could lead to the level 2 Diploma in your chosen trade or an apprenticeship.
 

Ascentis Certificate in Plumbing

Campus: Maidstone
Level: 1
Length: 20 - 24 weeks

This course has been designed for those intending on entering the plumbing industry. You will learn the skills and knowledge required, including: pipefitting, installation, testing and maintenance of simple plumbing systems, and appliances. Successful completion of this course could lead to an apprenticeship or a related qualification at level 2.
 

Ascentis Certificate in Electrical Installation

Campus: Maidstone
Level: 1
Length: 20 - 24 weeks

On this course you will learn the skills and knowledge required for a career in the electrical installation industry. Areas covered will include basic lighting and power circuits through to industrial installations. Successful completion of the course could lead to a related qualification at level 2 or an apprenticeship.
 

Interior Design - Award in Creative Techniques

Campus: Maidstone
Level: 1
Length: 10 weeks

This course is only offered to those aged 19 years and over.

The course covers colour, texture, shape, designs, mood boards and form, as all these areas form the foundation required to be a successful interior designer. All students will be asked to conduct research and put together a portfolio of their work. Successful completion of the course could lead to a level 2 qualification in Interior Design.
