The hardest step for adult learners is making the decision to return to study. But, once this decision is made, you will find yourself learning alongside people just like you, on a course that has been designed for adults.
Entry onto many courses requires no formal qualifications… So whatever your past achievements, at MidKent College we are sure to have a course to suit you.

Do you lack formal qualifications such as GCSEs and A Levels? An Access Course can help prepare you for higher education, further training or employment. The emphasis is placed on improving the oral, written and study skills of those who are returning to the education system. You will be able to progress onto careers such as Teaching, Social Work, Pharmacy, Nursing, Midwifery, Physiotherapy, Osteopathy, Law, Occupational Therapy, Business, and Computer Technology to name but a few.
If you receive Jobseekers Allowance, you may be able to study without conflicting with the terms of your benefits - please check with your local Benefits Office to make sure.
You can click here, contact the Course Information Line on 01634 402020 or email course.enquiries@midkent.ac.uk for more information on Access courses.

If you have plenty of working experience but have not taken any qualifications, you can now gain credit for what you have learned.
The Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) makes it possible for you – whatever your age or background – to receive formal recognition for skills and knowledge you already possess. APL concentrates on what you have learned and not how or where. It will be of great benefit to you if you have progressed in your career without gaining qualifications on the way. It is also a useful route for women who are returning to work after having a family and wish to update their skills.
