MidKent College is proud to announce the continuation of ATRA , a free service to Kent & Medway employers who register with us. We aim to support your recruitment and selection of new apprentices from a cohort of 16-18 learners who will have gained some technical knowledge in the relevant sector and be completing their Technical Certificate.

We will work with your organisation to identify which apprenticeship meets your business needs. We will assist in the recruitment of your apprentices by offering a job brokerage service, free of charge, to shortlist suitable candidates already studying with us. Alternatively, we will engage in the apprenticeship process following your successful recruitment campaign.

You need to look forward to keep your business ahead of the competition. That is where an Employer-Led Apprenticeship can help by developing the kind of people your business needs for the future.
Unlike many training programmes, Employer-Led Apprenticeships ensure the young person you engage on an apprenticeship scheme will already have the underpinning knowledge required for the sector they progress in, which will have been delivered within the College environment. With this format the apprentice develops the practical skills to do the job, and gains the skills and knowledge that work best for your business.
The Framework combines the elements of on-the-job training, where the apprentice works alongside your staff.
There are currently two levels of Apprenticeship:

Apprenticeship: apprentices work towards a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) at Level 2, Functional Skills qualifications and in most cases a relevant technical certificate. It can take between one and two years to complete an apprenticeship framework at this level

Advanced Apprenticeship: advanced apprentices work towards a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) at Level 3, Functional Skills qualifications and in most cases a relevant technical certificate. It usually takes at least two years to complete an advanced apprenticeship framework.

Apprenticeships are designed by business, for business. Sector Skills Councils are composed of business representatives from the relevant sector or industry. They decide on the course content within their own sector. Because apprenticeships have been developed by people who genuinely understand what you do and your business needs, they offer relevant, recognised qualifications. Apprenticeships can make your organisation more effective, competent, productive and competitive by addressing your skills gaps directly.
