Access to Teaching

Our Access to Teaching, Humanities and Social Sciences course is delivered from our Maidstone and Chatham Maritime campuses in Kent.


 
 
At our Maidstone Campus, in addition to the core programme of Maths and Study Skills, you will also study:
  • English Literature
And one subject chosen from the following minor options (subject to availability):
  • Sociology
  • English Language
  • History
  • Psychology
Those studying at our Medway Campus will study one of the following major subjects in addition to the core programme:
  • English Literature
  • History
  • Psychology
And one subject from the following minor options:
  • Sociology
  • English Language
  • Modern Ideas and Critical Thinking
Students progress to a wide variety of arts, social sciences and vocational courses. Degrees in teaching and social work are the most popular choices.



Motivation to learn is one of the most important entry requirements. No formal qualifications for the course are required, however, motivation to learn is essential. You are expected to have a basic competence in English and Maths; there is a short written test to assess this. Students must be at least 19 years of age on 31 August 2011.

If you do have relevant qualifications, they may exempt you from parts of the course.
