As an associate college of the University of Kent, MidKent College works closely with local industry to offer the most appropriate range of higher education programmes for engineering professionals.

Situated at the College's state-of-the-art Medway Campus, the department's resources include large workshops with some of the best hardware-specific equipment and facilities of any college in the country.



With pathways in:

    Electronic Engineering (UCAS CODE: H610)

    Electrical Engineering (UCAS CODE: H624)
    Mechanical Engineering (UCAS CODE: H300)
    Manufacturing Engineering (UCAS CODE: H700)
    Plant & Process Engineering (UCAS CODE: H790)

MidKent College's Foundation Degrees in Engineering are vocational degrees with a major focus on preparing students for the engineering profession. Students will be offered work placements as part of the programme. A planned and considered curriculum ensures graduates will be able to make an effective contribution to employment in the engineering sector.

These courses can be studied full-time over 2 years, while the HNC Conversion can be studied part-time over 2 years.

How will I be assessed?

Through a mixture of assignments, presentations and other coursework. Examinations are included within some modules.

What may it lead to?

These courses may lead to further study on a degree programme, with entry to the final year in certain cases. They may also lead to employment as an engineering technician, project or design engineer or work in systems commissioning and applications (e.g. within HM Armed Forces).
