MidKent College's HE courses in education deliver the knowledge and skills needed to meet the professional requirements of many differing fields of education - from working with children and young people, to working with adults, and teaching in the further education and post-compulsory education and training sectors.

Courses are suitable for experienced professionals who are already working within the various education sectors, as well as those who are just embarking upon their career.

All of these courses are delivered from our Medway Campus or Chatham Maritime Campus in Kent and offered in partnership with Canterbury Christ Church University.



MidKent College's Foundation Degree in Childhood Studies is validated by Canterbury Christ Church University and leads to the third year of a BA (Hons) programme, as well as eligibility towards QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) in the fourth year.

The course is delivered part-time over 2 years from our Chatham Maritime Campus in Medway, Kent.

Our PTTLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector), CTTLS (Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector) and DTTLS (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector) modules are delivered from the Chatham Maritime Campus and validated by Canterbury Christ Church University.

The full course is studied part-time over 2 years - with PTTLS and CTTLS completed in year one, and DTTLS completed in year two.

Fees may be paid by your Local Education Authority.

Please note that there are a number of changes to the details as published in the guide to Part-time Courses (which can be downloaded here), as follows:

  • Year 1 lectures take place on Wednesday evenings or Thursday mornings (times as shown)
  • Year 2 lectures take place on Tuesday evenings (times as shown)
  • Total fees (tuition fees and exam/registration/administration fees) are £665 per year
  • It is only possible to enrol on this course in September
  • All students must enrol on the Part 1 course before progressing to the Part 2 course
