Delivered from the Maidstone Campus in Kent, MidKent College's Foundation and Top-up Degrees in Building & Civil Engineering all start in September. It is also possible for students to accelerate their studies in order to complete these courses early to enable them to take on trainee or technician posts in their chosen profession.


Our central location in Kent allows you to study locally without the need to travel to London.
MidKent College's BSc (Hons) in Construction is a 'top-up' stage of the Foundation Degree in Construction (see below) and can be studied full-time over 1 year or part-time over one-and-a-half years.
Much of the learning is research based with independant and guided study. Lectures will be supplemented with tutorial/workshop support.
How will I be assessed?
Through coursework comprising case studies and essays with an end examination to assess understanding. A dissertation will be a central assessment component.

What may it lead to?

Our Foundation Degree in Construction is a vocational degree with a major focus on introducing students into the construction profession. Students will be offered work placements as part of the programme. A planned and considered curriculum ensures graduates will be able to make an effective contribution to employment in the construction sector.
This course can be studied full-time over 2 years, or part-time over 3 years.
How will I be assessed?
Through ongoing coursework. Tests and examinations will be given on some modules. The Industrial Applications modules will be assessed where appropriate in conjunction with work-based projects.

What may it lead to?
Students will be able to progress and gain part exemption towards an Honours course and qualify for membership of relevant professional institutions. Successful completion could also lead to employment with local or national contractors as a technician, site manager, contracts manager, contractor's surveyor, buyer, planner, estimator, or site engineer. You may also move into employment with general practice surveyors, quantity surveyors and architectural practices.
