MidKent College, one of the top training providers in Kent, is approved by the Skills Funding Agency to offer both Apprenticeship and Advanced Apprenticeship programmes. If you are working with an employer and wish to gain a “Gold Standard” qualification, this is the programme for you.

If you are aged between 16 and 19, you are eligible to undertake an apprenticeship and have access to priority funding for this programme. This means your apprenticeship programme is funded, and although your employer will pay you a salary and commit time to supporting your training, the cost of registration, assessment, tuition fees and assessment is covered.

If you are aged 19-25 you may still be eligible for funding but your employer will be required to make a contribution to the cost of your apprenticeship each year. You will still need to have a contract of employment and your employer will have to pay you a salary.

An Apprenticeship is a programme of training that takes you towards a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) at Level 2 in a subject relevant to your industry or work sector.

The Advanced Apprenticeship takes young people to the next stage – NVQ Level 3 – preparing them to become the managers and technicians of tomorrow.

Both these programmes combine a structure of specialist training in the workplace (an NVQ), a Technical Certificate (which provides the underpinning knowledge needed to obtain the NVQ) and the development of Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT.

Depending on the Apprenticeship you undertake, the programme on offer may include day release and/or workplace training and will include assessment and observations in the workplace to prove competence. Whichever route is appropriate, you will be supported by our team of course tutors and workplace assessors, who will provide the right training to help you develop your skills and potential.
